James Wood began his professional journey in the Boston suburbs with a leading real estate development and construction management firm, where he oversaw projects totaling more than $25 million in sales. His early success managing complex developments across the Northeast laid the foundation for a career defined by strategic leadership, strong client relationships, and operational excellence.
In 2006, leveraging the network he built in real estate, Mr. Wood transitioned into the private security industry by joining Boston-based Celadon Security, Inc. There, he quickly distinguished himself with an entrepreneurial approach and a relentless focus on client service, earning promotion to Vice President of the multimillion-dollar firm. During his tenure, not a single client account was lost due to service issues—a testament to his commitment to quality and responsiveness.
Following Celadon’s acquisition by a national security provider, Mr. Wood partnered with Jason Steiner to form Hunter Protective Services, Inc., bringing his proven leadership and customer-first philosophy to the new venture. His guiding principle remains simple:
“I answer the phone when a client calls—day or night. That should be standard practice for anyone who wants to succeed in business.”
In recognition of his impact on the industry, Mr. Wood was featured in the New England Real Estate Journal in 2013.
Today, as co-owner of Hunter Protective Services, Mr. Wood has helped grow the company into one of New England’s most respected contract security providers, employing several hundred officers across more than 75 client sites in the Greater Boston area. He takes particular pride in the fact that many of his original clients from Celadon continue to trust and partner with HPS to this day.
James Wood resides on the North Shore of Massachusetts with his wife Lynn and their four children.
